Oh, the Joy!July 17, 2012

Toby and I became grandparents when our son married Madison's mother.  We have loved her since she was two.  Well, today Madison was joined by a baby brother, Connor.  Mother and baby (and grandfather) are doing well.

As I held that little fella, I wondered what kind of man he will be.  Will he be musical or athletic or a builder or spiritual or academic?  While I do not know the answers to these questions, I know that his parents and grandparents will be doing our best to bend that little twig into something good.

I also know that there will be teachers in his life who will have a huge impact on who he becomes.  But not only teachers; I have seen school custodians encourage children, have watched bus drivers make a child's day, know that assistant principals and principals challenge  and guide students, have witnessed cafeteria workers know they are role models.  Everyone of us in Spartanburg Two is being watched by our students.  My hope is they continually see something good from each of us everyday.

Our "Connors" are counting on us.
