Shoally Creek Elementary School Transition Proposal

Information in this presentation concerning attendance line changes the administration is recommending was presented for consideration to the Board of Trustees at their meeting on February 9. The slides illustrate attendance area adjustments affecting Boiling Springs Elementary, Carlisle-Foster's Grove Elementary, and Hendrix Elementary students and families along with projected student population numbers. The Board will be asked to approve the changes at their meeting on March 8.

Following approval of the attendance areas, the district will mail letters to every student's home in the three affected schools notifying parents either that they will continue to be zoned in their current school or that they have been rezoned to a different school. Included in the letters to parents of rezoned students will be an invitation to an evening meeting to be held at each school during the month of March to introduce administrators of the schools, review attendance lines, and answer questions. Artist's renderings of the school and progress to date will be shared with students going to Shoally Creek Elementary School.

With the opening of Shoally Creek, the smaller attendance areas for Boiling Springs Elementary, Hendrix Elementary, and Carlisle-Foster's Grove Elementary will relieve their numbers and allow third graders in the attendance areas of those schools to remain at their elementary schools through fourth grade. Therefore, Boiling Springs Intermediate will house fifth grade only from all its feeder schools in 2016-17.
