at Welcome to Mayo
Elementary School's Computer Labs. Mayo currently
has two computer labs. Each lab has 30 student computers and a laser
printer in each room.
Our software programs include Compass Odyssey, Compass, ZAP, Sammy's
Science House, Kids Key, Cornerstone, Student Writing Center, Knowledge
Works, World Book, Millie's Math House, Zoo Zillions, Story Book Weaver,
Ultrakeys, Accelerated Reader, Riverdeep, Microsoft Publisher, and Microsoft
Word. These programs can be accessed in both labs
and in the classrooms. Both labs are used three times a year
for Map Testing. Netsmartz is a site that our students use throughout
the year.
It teaches
students about internet safety.
SCHEDULE FOR OUR STUDENTS
Kindergarten students
come one period a week for 30 minutes. The students are using
Compass Odyssey, Sammy's Science, Millie's Math House, and Zoo Zillions.
First and second grade
students come one period a week for 45 minutes and work on Compass
Odyssey,
Sammy's
Science House, Millie's Math House and Kidskey.
Third, fourth, and fifth
grade students are scheduled for 2 periods each week. In one period
students
use Compass Odyssey, and in the other period they are learning to
type in Ultrakeys and
Microsoft Word. They also use this time to research
information for projects. The 4th & 5th grade
students are learning to use
Microsoft Word to type poems and stories that are displayed in our school.
Lab two is currently being used by teachers to reinforce Compass Odyssey.
