I am looking forward to our time together next year. Listed below are your book/play/video selections and assignments for each selection. You need to do “professional” work. Use ink OR type your responses. Each assignment will be graded as a major test grade for the first grading period.

After reading the novel, choose one of the following topics and develop a 200-300 word essay in which you address the chosen topic in relation to the novel. Be sure to use examples from the book as your support for what you have to say. Do not simply retell the story.
· Some people are just born good and others are born evil.
· Justice is blind; rules have to be enforced, regardless of circumstance.

Characterization in the play is extremely important. Design and create a set of 5 greeting cards. Each card should be one that a character would give to another character in the play. Topics should include love, apology, parent/child relationship, missing you, and thank you. On the back of each card, write a 7-10 sentence letter of explanation from the giver of the card to the recipient stating the reason for the card.

1. NEWSLETTER: Create a 4 page newsletter relating the adventures of Bilbo Baggins. The newsletter should include a title, headlines and an article on each adventure as well as appropriate clip art. The newsletter should be attractive as well as complete. Font size for articles should be 12 pt.
2. SCRAPBOOK: Create an 8-10 page scrapbook based on the adventures of Bilbo Baggins. Each page should contain pictures, clip art, and/or memorabilia from an adventure. On the facing page, you should write a 7-10 sentence explanation of the items included on the page.
