Tips for Students entering 5K:

READ! READ!
READ! Research shows the best indicator of having a child who
is a good reader is a child who was read to at an early age.

FLASH CARDS -
name numbers 1-10 and letters of the alphabet.

COUNTING to 20
or higher
-
WRITING NAME -
practice first and last name. Please encourage your child to
capitalize only the first letter of the name. Please make sure
your child is forming letters correctly.

HAVE FUN!!!!
Use everyday situations to make review fun. Examples:
counting the dishes as you set the table, name letters from
billboards, have your child retell the story after you read, write
the names of family or friends, etc.

The public
library has a reading program with special prizes. Your child
can sign up the first week of June. There is also a story time
each week and special activities throughout the summer.
